Jansson's Gravlax

Jansson's temptation is a classic Scandinavian Christmas dish. In this recipe, the anchovies are replaced by Norwegian gravlax.

Ingredients

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

  • Peel the onion and cut it in thin slices. 

  • Sizzle the onion in a little bit of butter until soft. 

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them lengthwise into thin sticks. 

  • Put layers of potatoes, onion and gravlax in an oven-proof dish.

  • The bottom layer should be potato and it looks nice if the top layer is salmon. 

  • Spoon out the butter on top.

  • Mix cream and milk and add the mixture to the dish. 

  • Cover with breadcrumbs. 

  • Bake in the oven for approx. 45 minutes.

Let the dish set and cool slightly before serving.
